GO4SET: Helping young engineers of the future
Pupils at Wimbledon High School asked for our guidance for a project- based engineering initiative known as GO4SET (Go 4 Science Engineering and Technolgy). Go4SET is an Engineering Development Trust (EDT) initiative involving schools, engineers and companies to stimulate interest in young people in science, technolgy, engineering and mathematics.
The WHS pupils wanted to design a scheme to improve facilities at Wimbledon Train Station and their project (which involves report writing, model making and a formal presentation) aims to extend an elevated walkway to improve the circulation space for commuters, provide better signage and enhanced shopping facilities.
We advised them on the feasibility of building above the railway lines and made a few suggestions as to how they could present their model.
We are delighted to announce that the WHS team won the competition and received particular commendation for the design of their model. We send them our congratulations and hope they have been inspired as engineers of the future.
